First things first
For travellers in everyday life there is no strict dress code — city dress is relaxed. Modest clothing matters above all at religious sites.
Shoes
The most important item: the old cities are paved with stone, and a day easily adds up to ten kilometres. A well-worn, comfortable pair solves everything.
Summer
Light natural fabrics, a hat, sunscreen — the sun here is serious. Desert and mountain evenings are cooler; a light layer helps.
Spring and autumn
Dress in layers — warm days, fresh mornings and evenings.
Winter
Ordinary warm clothing; for the mountains, a full winter kit.
For religious sites
